The Art of loving ones self!

 I found that we are so intent on finding romantic love that we forget to love ourselves. We search for what we don't find in ourselves in others and that is the biggest problem because the way we love ourselves defines how others in turn love us. I had to understand that knowing myself and understanding what issues and traumas I have is a part of self love. Self love is more than doing things for yourself like facials and getting hair and nails done it's a journey of true self discovery knowing what your worth is and understanding that you may never be perfect but you are always worth the best and being willing to disconnect with people, places and things that keep you in a place of self doubt. Self love is taking mental days to figure out your emotional state and developing a coping mechanism so that you are not bleeding all over the people you love. I had to learn that sometimes the pain and disappointment in me made me lash out at people who genuinely loved and cared for me pushing them away and hiding within myself because I was afraid and confused in my own mind about my own self worth. When I looked in the mirror I had to learn to love every part of the person I am without judgement understanding that my flaws are what makes me truly beautiful. We get so caught up on the worlds definition of beauty that we forget to embrace our own uniquely given beauty from our creator. I might not look like Beyonce but I am hella fine in my own eyes. So, what I want you to do is look at yourself in the mirror and repeat these words I am beautiful, I am wealthy, I am courageous, I am healed, I am intelligent, I am a divine feminine, no matter what failures  I have made I have built from them and I succeed. I am worthy of genuine love and affection and I will no longer allow men or women to bread crumb me because I deserve love in it's most genuine form. In darkness I am light and I am protected in every aspect of my life because I am a child of light! Speak these words everyday until they become your reality and watch how you will attract all manner of blessings and start loving your journey of self discovery.  In light of the changing year, we all come to the conclusion that we must change different aspects of our lives or better ourselves in some way whether it be weight loss, decluttering our homes, changing careers, or searching for love we all dedicate ourselves to the process of growth and newness. I always wonder why we must wait until a certain time of year to make purposeful changes in our lives. Mother vs Father in the single world?

 In light of the holidays of Mother's & Father's Day, I have seen some crazy talk among the natives and it is downright disturbing if you ask me. The question I pose is why we feel that one parental role outweighs the other, especially in the single community. Honestly, children need both parents to thrive in our society.  If we really look into it the narrative has changed a lot because I see a lot of single fathers holding it down and it may be even more challenging for them, especially in terms of getting any type of assistance if they need it due to the stigma behind grown men providing for their own households.
