Mother vs Father in the single world?
In light of the holidays of Mother's & Father's Day, I have seen some crazy talk among the natives and it is downright disturbing if you ask me. The question I pose is why we feel that one parental role outweighs the other, especially in the single community. Honestly, children need both parents to thrive in our society.
If we really look into it the narrative has changed a lot because I see a lot of single fathers holding it down and it may be even more challenging for them, especially in terms of getting any type of assistance if they need it due to the stigma behind grown men providing for their own households. Now, let's be clear there are a lot of fathers who do not do right by their children but still many who would risk it all for their offspring so let us celebrate those men.
Why does it have to be a competition between which parent is better or who deserves more credit? Motherhood and fatherhood are very different in comparison if you ask me what I can teach my child as a mother is entirely different from what my child would learn from their father. I believe co-parenting is a necessity in today's family units when divorce and or children are born to parents who are not residing in the household there should never be a lack among the children. For children to thrive they need both parents to be present and working toward the same common goal the welfare of the children and nothing else.
So, let us put aside the notion that one parent's value outweighs the other and work together to make sure our children are loved, provided for, and whole. In life what we remember the most from our youth is that our parents were there for us and worked hard to make sure we were straight no matter the relationship between the parents because that was never our business as children just the need to feel loved by both parents is all that really concerned us.
So, give good gifts to your children that will last them a lifetime in terms of love, affection, and trustworthiness that's what they will remember in the years to come. Until next time Love. Light & Blessings!
